Enrichment Activities
Music is a joyful and meaningful way for children to learn, communicate, connect, and express themselves. Through singing, movement, instruments, and rhythm, music provides children with multisensory opportunities to explore the world around them while supporting growth across many areas of development.
Every Child Has a Voice
- Speech & Language Development: Singing familiar and repetitive songs provides opportunities to practice articulation, rhythm, vocabulary, and early communication skills in a fun, low-pressure environment.
- Non-Verbal Expression: Instruments such as drums and shakers give children a way to communicate emotions, preferences, and ideas without words.
- Receptive Language: Responding to musical cues encourages children to listen, attend, process information, and follow simple directions.
- Sensory Integration: Exploring sounds, rhythms, vibrations, movements, and visual experiences allows children to engage with a variety of sensory input in an enjoyable and supportive setting.
- Social & Emotional Development: Music naturally encourages turn-taking, imitation, shared attention, and connection with others. It also provides opportunities for children to build confidence and express themselves.
- Motor Development: Clapping, dancing, tapping instruments, and moving to different rhythms support coordination, motor planning, body awareness, and both fine- and gross-motor development.
Most importantly, music gives every child an opportunity to participate, communicate, create, and be heard in their own unique way. Whether a child is singing, dancing, playing an instrument, moving to the beat, or simply listening, every form of participation is valued and celebrated.
