Credentials

Little Village has an absolute charter from the New York State Board of Regents and is approved as a preschool and elementary school by the New York State Education Department.

Executive Director

Jon Feingold, Ph.D. holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Albany, a Master's Degree in Psychology and a Doctorate Degree in Clinical and School Psychology from Hofstra University. Jon has been employed by the school since 1995 in the capacities of Early Intervention provider, School Psychologist, Coordinator of Psychological Services, and Director of Psychological and Social Services. He is a licensed Psychologist, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a certified School Psychologist.
 

School Principal

Patricia DeVora Pizza, M.S. S.A.S., holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Hofstra University, a Master's Degree in Special Education from Adelphi University, and earned her certification as a NY State Administrator from C.W. Post University. Patti began her teaching career at Little Village over 30 years ago. She has been the co-chair of The Department of Health Best Practice Operations Committee since 2005.


Founders

Caryl Bank, Ph.D. holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Boston University, a Masters degree in Special Education from City College, a Masters degree in Social Work from Adelphi University and a Doctorate in Clinical Social Work from New York University. She is New York State certified in Education and Clinical Social Work, as well as Administration and Supervision. In addition, Caryl is a Diplomat of the New York State Society of Clinical Social Work Psychotherapists.

Barbara Feingold, Ph.D. holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Queens College, a Masters Degree from New York University in Educational Psychology and a Doctorate in Psychology from Hofstra University. She is certified as a Special Education teacher and has a certification in Administration and Supervision as well. In addition, Barbara is a New York State Certified School Psychologist and a licensed Psychologist.

Caryl and Barbara published a book Developmental
Disabilities of Early Childhood.  They also produced a film, titled "The Best in Every Child", which chronicled the lives of a typically developing child and his twin who has Down Syndrome. They have also presented at professional conferences worldwide. In 2002, Dr. Bank and Dr. Feingold were inducted into the Long Island Volunteer Hall of Fame.


Staff

Little Village staff includes certified special education teachers, teacher assistants, aides, physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, licensed creative arts therapists and registered dance/movement therapists, a school nurse, psychologists, social workers and an audiologist.
